Launch Housing
Launch Housing is one of Melbourne’s largest independent and secular community-based organisations that bring housing and homelessness solutions together under one roof. Our mission is to end homelessness. In our support of over 15,000 people last year through the spectrum of crisis accommodation all the way to permanent supported housing, two areas remain key. The first is with ‘families and new beginnings’ providing children, families and young people the opportunity to build an optimistic future. Second, we focus on ‘health and wellbeing’ because housing is healthcare and in a progressive city such as Melbourne, no one should be living and dying on our streets.
Ending street homelessness is a team effort. Many voices are needed to help drive this change – including yours. We have launched the Melbourne Zero campaign to help normalize solutions, solidarity, and public support for the vision of a Melbourne that is recognized around the world as world leading in ending homelessness. For more details on how you can join the Melbourne Zero Network, check out the campaign at melbournezero.org.au.

Suburban Rail Loop Authority
SRLA is the statutory authority responsible for planning and delivering the largest infrastructure project in Victoria’s history, and the state’s biggest investment in transport and precinct development.
Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) is an integrated city-shaping transport and precincts project; a 90km orbital rail line that will travel through Melbourne’s middle suburbs, connecting every major train line from Frankston around to Werribee via Melbourne Airport – putting the wheel on our state’s hub-and-spoke train network.
This mega infrastructure project will not only transform how people move around Melbourne and Victoria, it will also help recalibrate how and where the city grows in the decades ahead. Along with its transformational connectivity benefits, SRL will trigger investment in new housing and jobs in neighbourhoods around its underground stations.
It will help Melbourne become a ‘city of centres’, with SRL station precincts growing as vibrant places for people to live, learn, work and play – and as smart places for business to invest, expand and innovate. SRL will mean more jobs closer to where people want to live, greater access to health, research and education opportunities, and better local services.
The Victorian and Australian governments have already invested a combined $14b in SRL East (26km of twin tunnels and six new underground stations between Cheltenham and Box Hill) to deliver early planning and construction, and to get major works underway. Structure planning is has now commenced for each of these SRL precincts, including extensive consultation with those communities and others.
