02.04.2020Visitor Economy Working Group

Committee for Melbourne has been facilitating member forums and targeted submissions to Government seeking to develop the ‘Greater Melbourne Visitor Experience’ and industry.

A series of forums and Government submissions have been made, highlighting the importance of the Greater Melbourne Visitor Economy, which underpins our central activity district and state as an economic driver.

In light of the current crisis, a Committee for Melbourne industry reference group has been established, led by member representatives from the City of Melbourne, Quest Apartments, and Western Melbourne Tourism. The reference group met on Friday, March 27, to explore how to assist the Government and Industry improve collaboration across Greater Melbourne.

The group identified ways in which the Committee for Melbourne members could add value, aligning with Victoria’s Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions (DJPR) and the Victorian Tourism Industry Council (VTIC) so that we can move forward together on the road to recovery.

We look forward to assisting the Victorian Tourism Industry Council and the Victorian Government maximize industry collaboration across Melbourne. A series of member forums is scheduled, and you are encouraged to register your interest with Committee for Melbourne Visitor Economy forums via events@melbourne.org.au.
