03.06.2021The new Puffing Billy Visitor Centre is ‘on track’!
Situated in the picturesque and verdant Dandenong Ranges, is one of Greater Melbourne’s most iconic tourist attractions, Puffing Billy Railway. Built in 1900 to serve the local communities that lived in the hills, Puffing Billy is one of Australia’s oldest and best-preserved heritage steam railways, located only 60 minutes from the Melbourne CBD.
Jump on board, open side carriages and take a serene ride over the hills, across the iconic timber trestle bridges, down the valley and into the forest on the original mountain track between Belgrave and Gembrook. Alternatively, delight in beautifully restored heritage dining carriages and enjoy a first-class dining experience and picturesque scenery.
Scheduled to open later this year in Spring, Puffing Billy Railway’s new state-of–the-art Lakeside Visitor Centre will provide visitors with the opportunity to learn more about the railway and the region. Free entry, and indoor and outdoor dining options available.
