03.09.2020Launch of the Future Focus Group 2021-2022 Program

Committee for Melbourne is committed to the development of emerging leaders into skilled, dedicated and connected civic leaders who have an enduring positive impact on Melbourne. As part of this ongoing pledge, we are delighted to announce the launch of the Future Focus Group (FFG) 2021-2022 Program. Melbourne’s own emerging civic leaders’ program, FFG is a unique opportunity for selected emerging leaders in Melbourne to understand better, connect within and contribute to Melbourne while building their leadership capabilities.

Now in its third decade, FFG runs over 15 months and features an induction event, group projects in diverse teams, 15 evening workshops and active one-on-one mentoring. FFG also provides opportunities to build enduring relationships with other participants and alumni.

A critical – and unique – component of FFG is the group projects which run for over 12 months. Some of the successful FFG projects to date include Open House Melbourne, The Melbourne Prize and the Free Tram Zone.

The Committee will develop 10 to 12 potential FFG group projects where the purpose of each of those projects is to contribute to Melbourne’s Road to Recovery in one or more of the Committee’s four focus areas:

  • Future Economy
  • Liveability
  • Urban Optimisation
  • Infrastructure & Sustainability.

These 10 to 12 potential FFG group projects will be showcased to the FFG participants at their induction event, with each project team to consider those potential projects and shortlist three of them before the end of the induction event for further exploration.

Completed nomination packages for the 2021-2022 Program are being sought by Friday 30 October for interviews in November, confirmation of participation in early December and a start of the program for confirmed participants in February. The program will be delivered in accordance with prevailing social distancing protocols in Melbourne.
