01.04.2021Grimshaw’s Bold design concept to accelerate uptake of EVs in Melbourne

Continuing their association with Melbourne Design Week, this year Committee for Melbourne member, Grimshaw, joined A New Normal – the collective of 15 leading Melbourne architects coming together to prototype pilot projects for a self-sustaining Melbourne.

In collaboration with two of their peers, they have envisioned a way to transform existing petrol stations into hubs for converting our combustion engine cars to Electric Vehicles through the ‘new normal’ service station, all by scaling up existing technology. Find out how it works and how this micro conversion impacts the macro in relation to the citywide master plan, caring for Country and the health of Melburnians.

Discover Electric Car Conversions + all the pilot projects at Melbourne Design Week, at New Normal HQ (130 Lt Collins St) before it ends on 5 April!

These events are part of Melbourne Design Week 2021, an initiative of the Victorian Government in collaboration with the NGV. Explore the full program at designweek.melbourne
