02.09.2021Future Focus Group – Women Leaders in Diplomacy and the 2022 FFG opportunity to chase those COVID blues.
Participants in the FFG 2021 – 2022 Program were treated to a virtual forum last week with Dr Sue Boyd. Sue served in a number of Australian diplomatic positions, having joined the Australian Department of External Affairs (now known as Foreign Affairs and Trade) in 1970. She served in Portugal and East Germany, as well as at the United Nations in New York. She went on to be High Commissioner in Bangladesh and then Fiji, Ambassador in Vietnam and Consul General in Hong Kong. Her memoir, Not Always Diplomatic: An Australian Woman’s Journey Through International Affairs is both informative and entertaining.
Sue shared her perspectives with the FFG participants on the importance of having supportive allies and a broad set of interests, while also providing stories on how she had built and led effective teams.
During these COVID-constrained times, motivating our emerging leaders by connecting them to a Melbourne leadership network, mentors and the opportunity to Shape Melbourne’s future becomes even more important.
We are therefore pleased to announce that expressions of interest in, and nominations for, the FFG 2022 – 2023 Program are now welcome as we celebrate the 25th year of this wonderful program.
Nomination close on Friday, 1 October, with nominee interviews taking place during October. Nominees and their nominators will be advised of the outcome by Monday, 8 November. A place in the Program for 20 to 24 participants is available.
Further details on the Program can be accessed here. Please contact Matt Gaffney, General Manager Future Focus Group, if you would like to discuss the prospect of a nomination.
