17.06.2021Committee for Melbourne celebrates The Big Issue’s 25th Birthday
This month our friends at The Big Issue are celebrating their 25th birthday, and 25 years of helping thousands of people living on the margins positively change their lives.
The Big Issue provides low-barrier work opportunities to people experiencing homelessness, marginalisation and disadvantage, and is best known for The Big Issue magazine. The concept is simple, Big Issue vendors buy the magazine for $4.50 and sell it on streets around Australia for $9, earning a meaningful income. Many vendors accept cash, card and phone payments.
To support The Big Issue’s 25th birthday, we encourage everyone to visit a vendor and purchase the special edition magazine, a bumper 76-page edition celebrating The Big Issue’s history and people. We also encourage you to visit thebigissue.org.au/25-years-big and sign up to watch the 25 Years Big video, a collection of stories and birthday messages from The Big Issue community.
