11.07.2019Arcadis | Shared Mobility: Effect on Property & Infrastructure assets

The Committee recently co-hosted an event with design and engineering consultancy Arcadis, discussing Melbourne’s readiness for the impact of Autonomous Mobility on its property and infrastructure assets. Australian Cities Director Stephen Taylor presented research collated through client interviews and an online survey for both Melbourne and Sydney. The insights highlighted how asset owners in both cities agreed their assets would be impacted in the future by Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAV), but that Melburnians saw the impact being further away, but with fewer legislative restrictions than Sydneysiders.

The keynote was followed by an expert panel discussion, joined by Elizabeth Kim, General Manager Mobility at RACV, Cressida Wall, Property Council Victorian Executive Director, and Lorie Argus, Melbourne Airport’s Chief of Parking and Ground Access. There was great cross-sector representation of the industry, with audience/panel discussion around some of the key focus areas, including who needs to be leading the change, and the dichotomy between current and future parking needs and the challenges around this for developers.

If you are interested in contributing to Arcadis’ research around the impact of CAVs on your organisation’s assets, please contact Victorian Buildings Lead, Sally Fiddes.
