27.11.2020A win for the Melbourne Arts Precinct Legacy Project

The Committee’s Arts & Culture Taskforce has long supported the Melbourne Arts Precinct legacy project. This week’s announcement provides a big win for Melbourne’s arts & culture community – Australia’s largest-ever investment in cultural infrastructure – a $1.4B investment in the first stages of the Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation, including Reimagining Arts Centre Melbourne.

This major cultural infrastructure project will not only support the long-term sustainability of the City, the Arts Centre, and creative industries workers, but also the Victorian economy by providing thousands of jobs over its 10-year lifespan.

This commitment from the Victorian Government sets Melbourne’s Arts Precinct firmly on a path to realise the long-held vision for a seamlessly connected arts and culture precinct in this once-in-a-generation, city-shaping project.
