The Melbourne Summit 2023
The Melbourne Summit 2023, held on Thursday 2 March 2023 at the beautiful Sofitel Melbourne on Collins brought together 120 city leaders from 90 organisations across corporate, academic, not-for-profit and arts and culture sectors, to generate ideas for Melbourne’s future.
We launched our second Benchmarking Melbourne 2023 report which assesses Melbourne’s strengths and opportunities among a group of 20 global peer cities. The 2023 report facilitated wide-ranging discussion across the city. See all media coverage here.
We heard from Lord Mayor of Melbourne Sally Capp, brand guru Mark Ritson, our CEO Mark Melvin, The Business of Cities CEO Dr Tim Moonen, JLL Victoria’s Managing Director Craig Shute and Leanne Edwards, our Director Policy & Advocacy in our first session.
Recognising the wonderful strengths of Melbourne such as the vibrant arts and culture offering and strong pipeline of skills and talent, the speakers pointed to areas of focus from the report such as improving whole city connectivity, affordable housing offerings and creating a unified brand strategy for Melbourne.
Thank you to our keynote speakers in the breakout rooms Amy Auster, Matthew Cleary, and Nigel Pugh, and to all our panellists Alison Leighton, Dr Kate Cornick, Dr Jonathan Spear, Jacqueline Savage, Geoff Ward, Michelle Loader, Joe Lathan, Annabel McFarlane and Craig Taberner as well as Mark Sinclair, Leanne Edwards and Craig Shute for moderating.
We also thank Wurundjeri Elder Uncle Tony Garvey for conducting the Welcome to Country.
