2022 Annual Dinner – the night of nights!
On Wednesday 11 May, Committee for Melbourne hosted their prestigious Annual Dinner at Melbourne and Olympic Park’s newly developed CENTREPIECE in the presence of Her Excellency the Honourable Linda Dessau AC, Governor of Victoria and Committee for Melbourne Patron.
Over 700 proud Melburnians entered into a forest of trees supplied by Nursery & Garden Industry in Deloitte’s sustainable pre-function space before embarking on a night of entertainment, insight and culinary excellence.
Renowned journalist Michael Rowland turned Master of Ceremonies for the evening, introducing Committee for Melbourne Chair, Scott Tanner to welcome guests. Guests were then greeted by Her Excellency the Honourable Linda Dessau AC, Governor of Victoria in a heartfelt and warming address. The Governor joined Mr Tanner and Telstra’s Janet Barnes in presenting the 2022 Melbourne Achiever Award winners honouring Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and VCCC Alliance and Michael Gudinski AM for their outstanding contribution to Health and Research and Arts and Culture respectfully, in Melbourne. The evening’s order of proceedings was generously sponsored by Silver Event Partner Lendlease.
Michael Gudinski’s Mushroom Records newest talent, D’Arcy Spiller enchanted guests with her poignant voice performing ‘Wildfire’ as a tribute to the Melbourne Achiever Award winner. The entertainment was kindly supported by Arts Centre Melbourne and the Marriner Group.
Deloitte’s Dr Pradeep Phillip, Lead Partner Deloitte Access Economics then provided fascinating insight into sustainability and the distance each ingredient of the meal’s guests enjoyed, had travelled from farm to plate.
The evening concluded with the ‘OUR Melbourne’ segment by presenters Ahmed Hassan of Youth Activating Youth, Sikh Volunteers, the City of Melbourne – Lord Mayor Sally Capp and Charlotte Stratton-Smith. The Australian Ballet School performed a contemporary dance, an excerpt of a work called ‘Jessica’ choreographed by Lucas Jervies with original music composed by Oliver Northam.
Delaware North concluded the evening revealing the dessert and CENTREPIECE cheese and whisky Bar. Guests were safely driven home thanks to 13CABS.
