Meet the Minister – Mr. Ben Carroll MP

Members enjoyed a delicious lunch at MinterEllison to Meet the Minister Mr. Ben Carroll MP, with Presenting Partner Transurban.

Minister Carroll delivered a keynote address on how public transport can enrich communities and connect Melburnians to job opportunities as well as how industry and innovation will set Melbourne up now and well into the future.

The panel discussion followed with Minister Carroll, Erika Hughes – Integra Systems, Henry Byrne – Transurban and Committee for Melbourne Board Director and Alison Sewell – Minter Ellison, moderated by the Committee’s CEO Mark Melvin.

Panellists agreed Greater Melbourne needs 21st Century transport options that work for everyone, advanced jobs and manufacturing precincts through adoption of technology and digitisation to be competitive against global peers, and zero-emissions buses for a more sustainable and cleaner city.

The Committee was pleased to hear Minister Carroll talk about bus reform following our recent report Course Correction – Reforming Melbourne’s buses, which focusses on prioritising fast, reliable and direct services that benefit all Melburnians.
