In conversation with the Lord Mayor Sally Capp AO

At our event ‘In conversation with the Lord Mayor Sally Capp AO’ held at Herbert Smith Freehills, Sally Capp AO shared how we can collectively strive towards the most liveable city in the world with the importance of accessibility, amenities, transport connection and sustainability in Melbourne.

Sally also shared her top priorities with Committee for Melbourne’s CEO Mark Melvin and members including driving a prosperous city economy, supporting pathways into secure housing, and ensuring Melbourne remains a global leader in environmental sustainability.

In the Committee’s Benchmarking Melbourne 2023 report, Melbourne ranked 2nd for inclusivity and wellbeing out of 20 global peer cities. With other top ratings such as 4th for experience economy and 8th for image and influence, Melbourne has a lot to offer businesses, residents, and visitors alike.

We have a world-class city centre, but the ‘tale of two cities’ theme from the report highlights that there is a divergence between the city and a fragmented metropolis.

With an expected population for Greater Melbourne of 9 million by 2050, discussions centred around how we can ensure Melbourne remains a hub for investment, jobs and entertainment.
