Digitalisation of Business

We were thrilled to head to the Cremorne precinct for our final DIF2023 series event – Digitalisation of Business.

Hosted at Artesian, Committee members heard from business leaders on how they have utilised digital innovation to transform their product and service offering. Our keynote speaker, Andrew Eriksen GAICD MAIPM, CEO, The Greater Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust shared insights on connecting customers with the organisation’s value proposition.  Andrew also shared how the organisation has integrated compassionate human centred technology into their operations and the role of AI technology across their business.

Andrew was joined by panellists Gretchen Scott, CEO Kaleida and Fred Herselman (Fred H.), General Manager: Enterprise Data, Pexa to share their expertise on key issues relating to how businesses can employ digital technologies to improve operational performance, remain competitive and enhance a customer centric proposition. Panellists also highlighted the importance of trust and ethics in the use of digital technologies, especially at a time where data security is front-of-mind for many organisations and the community. They also emphasised the broader role that technology can play, and how organisations can make a positive social impact.

Melbourne has an opportunity to capitalise on the digital economy, with recognition that technology has the potential to transform how we operate within our organisations and with our customers. Digitalisation is the enabler of transformation and is a key driver for success across all segments of the economy. However, the Committee’s Benchmarking Melbourne 2023 report, ranks Melbourne 13th out of 20 global peer cities in the category of technology and efficiency. There are opportunities to improve in areas such as cloud availability and data zones, efficiency of integrating new talent, and industry reputation for developing and deploying new technologies.

We thank our sponsor for the event, the Victorian Government as part of the Digital Innovation Futures initiative. DIF is delivered in collaboration with a network of partners such as the Committee for Melbourne. Thank you to Cremorne Digital Hub as hosting partner for making the wonderful Artesian premises available to our members.
