The Future Focus Group is the Committee for Melbourne’s two year business leadership program for emerging leaders. It develops the leadership skills and commitment of our future corporate community leaders.

Outcomes for Emerging Leaders

  • Access to senior business and civic leaders and a broad network of young leaders from a diversity of backgrounds
  • An opportunity to fulfill corporate social responsibilities and make a tangible and lasting contribution to Melbourne through hands-on social entrepreneurship
  • Practical leadership skills gained via an action-based, enduring learning experience of formulating a project idea, developing teams, creating a shared vision, managing differing personalities and overcoming hurdles, and generating the momentum to make the project successful.

Key Dates and Milestones

  • Nominations open in July of the year before program commences
  • Nominations close in August of the year before program commences
  • Offers are made in writing in September of year before program commences
  • Welcome drinks are held in November of year before program commences
  • Induction weekend in held in February of year of commencement
  • Graduation dinner is held in November of second year of program.

Selection Process

  • Member companies may nominate participants for the Future Focus Group program.
  • Companies use their own internal processes to select candidates.
  • The final selection is made by the Chairman and Manager of the Future Focus Group but in most cases company recommendations are accepted.
