Mr Tom Fricke

GHD Ltd

Mr. Tom Fricke has been a practising professional consulting engineer for over 35 years. He holds an Honours Degree in Civil Engineering and is a Fellow of both the Institution of Engineers, Australia and the American Society of Civil Engineers. Mr. Fricke is also a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

His 35+ years career with leading Australian, and now international, professional services consultancy GHD (previously Gutteridge Haskins & Davey) has involved him in infrastructure projects throughout Australia and in South East Asia, in particular Malaysia.

His career at GHD has included the roles of Manager – Water Group Victoria, Director IT, Director People, Board Member, for six years, and Victorian State Manager.

He currently holds the position of Executive Manager based in GHD’s Victorian headquarters in Melbourne and is also a Director of Engineering Education Australia Pty Ltd.

Tom has been GHD’s Committee for Melbourne Member representative since January 2002 and has been a Member of the Committee’s Higher Education Taskforce since June 2006. He is particularly interested in further lifting Melbourne’s reputation as a learning city so that it becomes a preferred destination for students, staff and researchers, at all educational levels, from around the world.

In addition to this Taskforce role Mr. Fricke’s firm – GHD – has actively contributed to the Committee for Melbourne’s Transport Taskforce.

Tom is affiliated with several city/golf clubs and is married with two daughters. His spare time interests encompass golf, travel, bushwalking and sailing.
