Our Vision
For Melbourne:

Global city of choice for people and organisations, due to its distinct blend of prosperity, opportunity and liveability.

Our Focus Areas

Future Economy

Jobs creation and economic security will continue to be key issues and we must consider how we wish to shape our own future by identifying and leveraging our strengths.

Liveability

Melbourne’s liveability is highly coveted. We must identify the key drivers of our liveability –– culture, heritage, sports, parks and environment –– and plan for their growth.

Urban Optimisation

It is crucial to optimise urban development as our city grows in order to maximise access to jobs, services and housing options, while protecting our architectural heritage and open spaces.

Infrastructure

Melbourne must plan now for our long-term infrastructure needs through prioritisation of infrastructure projects, creating innovative ways to increase the funding pool and streamlining project delivery.

History

Founded in the 1980s by a group of passionate Melbourne business leaders, the Committee was formed to stimulate our economy and help cement Melbourne as a city of international significance. The first of its kind worldwide, the Committee today aims to be the pre-eminent organisation engaging with leading organisations dedicated to creating a better Melbourne.

The Committee has been a major driving force behind the development and progression of our city working on many projects over the years, such as the Docklands redevelopment, privatisation of Melbourne Airport, progressing medical technology through the BioMelbourne Network, and the Western Bypass and CityLink projects. Most recently, the Committee outlined best practice principles for an independent infrastructure prioritisation entity, which were adopted by Infrastructure Victoria.
