Committee for Melbourne Chair Scott Tanner today announced that Her Excellency the Honourable Linda Dessau AM, Governor of Victoria, has become the Committee’s first ever Patron.
Mr Tanner said the Committee was delighted to welcome the Governor as Patron and guest of honour at its Annual Dinner in May.
Governor Dessau became Victoria’s 29th and first female Governor in July 2015, following a distinguished career in commercial litigation and family law. She has held a broad range of leadership roles in the community, championing judicial education, the arts, social support services, healthcare, and Melbourne’s sporting heritage. The Governor was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 2010 for services to family law and the community.
Governor Dessau will be the guest of honour and keynote speaker at the Committee’s Annual Dinner on 26 May. One of Melbourne’s premier black tie business events, the dinner will be held in North Melbourne’s Laurens Hall. The venue is one of the hidden gems of the inner city’s industrial precinct, and will make way for the transformational Melbourne Metro Rail Project. The dinner will celebrate Melbourne’s underground - the inner workings that keep the city moving as it continues to grow.
